| The Country Express Band has continuously backed all entertainers at
the Opry, including the greats such as Kitty Wells, Hank Thompson, Buck Trent,
Shoji Tabuchi, Chubby Wise, Nat Stuckey, Norma Jean, Leona Williams, Claude
Gray, Jeannie Seely, Frenchie Burke, Johnny Bush, Darrell McCall and many
others. Our six piece band consist of a lead guitar, bass, fiddle, steel
guitar, piano, drums and rhythm guitar, however on any given Saturday, someone
will break out a dobro, mandolin, or more rhythm instruments to add
variety to the show.
Jimmie Green, Band leader and lead guitar, has been with the Opry (with the exception of a couple of years) since the beginning. Jimmie is an excellent songwriter and composer as well as playing the guitar. You might even see him sing one of his songs every once in a while. Jimmie recently retired from his job at the Fort Worth Star Telegram, so you might see him hang around a bit after the show. Paul Trotter, bass, is a seasoned musician and talented vocalist from Iredell, Texas . Paul joined the band in March, 2010 and has become a huge part of this band. Born in Dallas, finished school in Walnut Springs, Texas, then ended up in Alabama where he spent 20 years. He's played engagements from Texas to the state of Florida, but mostly in the state of Alabama. Paul is from a family of musicians, his parents and all his siblings played some kind of musical instrument as did his uncles, aunts and cousins. Family reunions are one big jam session! Paul's says "My real love is old church hymns and southern gospel, but he still likes to cut loose on some southern rock, 50's and 60's. I like the Opry because it is a good family atmosphere and a lot of fun". Tim Turnbeaugh, rhythm guitar and vocalist. Tim is a self-taught guitarist beginning his sophomore year in high school at Cisco, Texas. He played his first show at Putnam, Texas in 1998. Tim came to the Opry as a performer in 2001. He joined the Opry Band on December 31, 2008 and has been a valuable asset. Tim is a great player and singer, with a repertoire of hundreds of songs. If you want to know something about who sang a song, who wrote a song, etc. just ask Tim and most likely he can tell you. Tim says, "I've learned a lot since coming to the Opry and they all seem like family to me." Adrian Summers, drummer, and man what a drummer. Adrian hails from down the road at the big city of Walnut Springs. Adrian has played music since he was in the fifth grade and continued playing in band all through high school in Glen Rose where was the percussion section leader. After graduation, Adrian didn't let his music come to an end. He has played in numerous bands throughout the years including not only country but also rock and Christian rock. Adrian has been a great addition to our band family. Joseph Jackson, fiddler, for the Country Express Band has been playing the fiddle since he was 5 years old. Joseph was Carroll Parham's first fiddle student in 1996. He has since taught himself guitar and is a big fan of Johnny Cash and loves to sing his music. Joseph also plays the banjo and mandolin. He is graduate of Huckabay High School and is now attending college at Tarleton State University.. He has been playing with the band since May 31, 2008 and is a great addition.. Want to hear a little of Johnny Cash, just ask Joseph and he can do it!!!!! Sylvia Burleson, emcee, is no stranger to the stage. Beginning when she was only a child, Sylvia was in numerous pageants all over the area including Dallas and Ft. Worth. She was an on-stage type of girl, always wooing the judges with her smile and charm. Sylvia more or less grew up at the Opry and made her first stage appearance singing when she was about 7 years old. She grew up, got to busy with school, drill team, and being a teenager. After high school, she started organizing pageants herself, and emceeing them. So, when the opportunity came, here she is back at the Opry doing a great job emceeing the show. Sylvia and her husband Erik, live in DeLeon with their daughter and two sons. We are very proud of our band here at the Cross Timbers Country Opry! They are a great group, all get along and have fun while doing their job. A great group of talented musicians.
